"Thibault" Rapier forged by Bellatore
The Thibault de Bellatore rapier is inspired by the specifications of Gerard Thibault d'Anvers as described in his 17th-century treatise "Académie de l'Espée." Its swept hilt without a knuckle bow and its lightness make it a versatile weapon, suitable for Destreza as well as Italian styles or rapier fencing in general.
- Elegant swept hilt without a knuckle bow, offering excellent wrist mobility for various techniques
- Lightweight and balanced at only 950 g with a point of balance at 13 cm, reducing fatigue during prolonged practice
- Comfortable 8 cm grip allowing for different hand positions depending on the styles practiced
- Versatile for Spanish Destreza, Thibault style, Italian fencing (Giganti), or German (Meyer)
Description
The Thibault de Bellatore rapier draws its inspiration from the specifications of Gerard Thibault d'Anvers, a 17th-century Flemish master and author of the treatise "Académie de l'Espée." Its historically informed design makes it a versatile weapon that goes beyond the Thibault style to suit various schools of rapier fencing.
The swept hilt guard without a knuckle bow offers excellent wrist mobility, facilitating line changes and circular actions common to several styles. The 8 cm leather grip, more generous than some Iberian models, allows for different handholds according to technical needs. The acorn-shaped pommel ensures a good hand lock while maintaining an elegant historical aesthetic.
With its contained weight of 950 g and a balance point 13 cm from the quillons, this rapier prioritizes maneuverability and reduces fatigue during extended training sessions. The 104 cm blade, with a diamond profile and a short fuller, offers controlled flexibility suitable for technical sparring. Whether you practice the Spanish Verdadera Destreza, Thibault's Académie de l'Espée, Giganti's Italian fencing, or Meyer's techniques, this rapier will adapt to your style thanks to its versatile balance and robust construction.
