Curved Round Shield "Rotella" 57cm

The Spartan round shield is designed for practitioners seeking a durable simulator for intensive training. Say goodbye to plywood that delaminates or leather edging that crumbles: this model is molded from 5 mm thick ABS plastic, a material known for its ability to withstand heavy impacts without breaking or producing splinters.

A versatile historical template With its 57 cm diameter, this shield falls into the category of "Rotella" (Italian Renaissance round shields) or Scottish Targes. It is significantly smaller than a traditional Viking shield (often 80-90 cm), making it much more mobile and aggressive. It's the perfect tool to accompany a sidesword, a one-handed sword, or for modern melee combat (MSF/Soft).

Performance and Maintenance Its weight of 1.3 kg is a major asset for long training sessions, allowing you to work on technique without prematurely exhausting the shoulder. Unlike historical materials, ABS is not affected by mud, rain, or storage in a damp trunk. A simple wipe with a cloth is enough to maintain it.

Usage note: Although very sturdy, this shield is lighter than its historical steel or solid wood equivalents. It therefore offers less inertia during impacts.
