Synthetic Soldier’s Targe

The Targe is a medium-sized round shield that developed in the mid-15th century. The soldiers who fought in melee were then equipped with armor which made the heater shield unnecessarily bulky.

Rather than protecting the body behind a large shield, the rondache or Targe, smaller and easier to handle, allowed to go in contact with the opponent to block his blade or strike him directly.

This reproduction designed and manufactured by Cold Steel is made of rigid polypropylene, formed in one piece, which is a guarantee of strength.

The handle, fixed by two nuts, offers an excellent grip.

The " umbo " (domed part of the shield) is large enough to allow the grip to be grasped even with a glove.

Practical and resistant, this PVC targe is ideal for working on sword-shield techniques with a nylon simulator such as Rawlings or Black fencer.
