Description

The Historical Duel Series (HDS) range was created to address the disappearance of reference simulators in the European market. This dueling saber is a faithful reproduction of Giuseppe Radaelli's system, as codified by Settimo Del Frate in his 1868 treatise. It is designed for fencers seeking the fluidity necessary for executing molinelli (circular movements) without the parasitic inertia of overly heavy military sabers.

The dynamic behavior of the weapon relies on an extremely fine weight/balance ratio. With a POB (Point of Balance) located 10.5 cm from the guard, the weapon naturally pivots around the center of the hand, facilitating quick parries and circular ripostes. The taper (distal thinning) of the blade, measured at 5.2 mm at the base, ensures that the forte of the blade remains rigid for binding, while the foible retains the essential flexibility for safe thrusts in sparring.

The Curvature Guide

  • Straight: Prioritizes reach and point precision. Ideal for systems transitioning to combat swords.
  • Standard: The classic "Radaelli" curvature. The perfect balance for alternating between edge cuts and thrust lunges.
  • Super Curved: Enhances inertia at the end of the swing and facilitates draw cuts. A pronounced cutting aesthetic and feel.

This is the ideal substitute tool for those missing the Easton Mark III. However, HDS expertise comes with a warning: this saber is a precision instrument. Its lightweight structure (730g) is not designed to withstand repeated impacts against heavy cavalry sabers or "military" type simulators exceeding 900g. To ensure the longevity of the blade and the openwork guard, prioritize sparring between simulators of equivalent weight categories.
