Federschwert Vanguard - Hybrid Longsword

The Vanguard Feder combines the dynamics of a 16th-century German feather sword with a curved guard typical of late Italian Middle Ages (Fiore tradition). This modern engineering choice offers a formidable simulator: the curved quillons facilitate capturing the opponent's blade during the Bind and secure the fingers in Gioco Stretto (close play), while the flared Schilt brings the POB to 6.5 cm, ensuring formidable agility in line changes.

Technical Analysis

The 99 cm blade, with a constant thickness of 4 mm, has a flexibility of 13.5 kg at the weak. This is the ideal ratio to absorb the energy of a violent thrust without generating a parasitic "whip" effect during parries. The black braided rope handle provides a mechanical grip far superior to smooth leather, a major asset when handled with heavy plastic gauntlets (SPES Heavy type).

Expert Advice & Limitations

The axial screw mounting on a flat (keyed) tang prevents any rotation of the pommel, offering excellent shock resistance. However, repeated vibrations on the blade can lead to micro-loosening. To counter this, we strongly recommend applying a drop of "threadlocker" (medium strength/blue thread adhesive) on the screw during the first use. This will secure the assembly permanently while still allowing you to disassemble the weapon by applying slight force with the Allen key.
