Federschwert Trnava Slim "Medium" - Regenyei

Usage & Context

In line with the work of Peter Regenyei, the Trnava range has always stood out for its robust character. This "Slim" version responds to the evolution of modern historical fencing: less raw mass, more responsiveness. It is inspired by the proportions of type XVa or XVII swords according to the Oakeshott typology, adapted to the safety constraints of the Federschwert. It is perfectly suited for the study of Germanic traditions (Liechtenauer) that require great fluidity in transitions.

Technical Analysis

Technically, the Trnava Slim is distinguished by its characteristic "Schilt" (strong of the blade) which effectively protects the thumb during binds. Its 100 cm blade, although thinner, retains a 6 mm thick base, ensuring the necessary structural rigidity to prevent "floating" during the Bind (binding). The point of balance located very close to the guard (5-7 cm) transforms this longsword into a particularly lively tool, facilitating Durchwechseln (changing through) actions without tiring the forearms during prolonged sessions.

Expert Advice & Limitations

Although labeled "Medium", the Regenyei rigidity remains firm. While it excels in tournaments due to its ability to hold the center, it requires a certain mastery of thrusting to avoid being too punishing with your club partners. The polished finish is beautiful but requires rigorous maintenance (camellia oil or Renaissance Wax type protection) after each session to prevent oxidation of the carbon steel.
