Description

The Lucerne hammer, also known as the bec de corbin or bec de faucon, is a versatile pole weapon that emerged in the mid-14th century. Its use extended until the 16th century, marking a significant evolution in late medieval armament. This formidable weapon combined three essential elements:

  • The "beak" or spike: Designed to pierce armor, particularly effective against metal plates.
  • The "mail" or hammer: Used to crush and deform the opponent's protections.
  • The "dagger" or top spike: Ideal for exploiting weaknesses in the armor, such as joints or the visor.

Our faithful reproduction in high-density rubber captures the essence of this historical weapon while providing the necessary safety for modern and intensive training. The rubber head allows for realistic impact simulation without the risk of serious injury, making this tool ideal for the study and practice of medieval combat techniques.

The handle, a crucial element of the weapon, is custom-made from French ash. Measuring 180 cm in length, it offers the historically accurate reach of a Lucerne hammer while ensuring robustness and maneuverability. Its square section ensures a firm grip and prevents undesirable rotation of the weapon during use.

For improved comfort and safety, the edges of the handle have been carefully planed, creating an ergonomic octagonal shape. Ash, a wood traditionally used for tool handles, combines lightness and shock resistance, making this Lucerne hammer a durable and high-performing training tool.

The end of the weapon is completed with a rubber tip called a "coronel," referring to its crown-like shape. This addition enhances the safety of the weapon, particularly during techniques involving the use of the heel.
