Description

The steel of training swords is not stainless: hand sweat and ambient humidity are enough to trigger oxidation from the very first sessions. Regular maintenance after each training session is the only way to keep a blade in good condition over the long term.

Ballistol oil has been a reference for weapon maintenance for over a century. Originally developed for the German army at the beginning of the 20th century, it was designed to maintain both the metal of weapons and the wood of stocks and the leather of equipment — a specification that perfectly matches the needs of a HEMA sword: steel blade, wooden grip, leather-wrapped handle.

Sprayed in a thin layer on the blade after training, it dissolves deposits, neutralizes sweat marks, and leaves a protective film that prevents corrosion without making the weapon greasy. Its biodegradable and skin-friendly formula allows for immediate handling of the weapon after application, without any special precautions.

If rust has already set in, start with cleaning using the Rust Eraser (Pimpstone) before applying the oil to a clean surface.
