Articulated Pauldrons SWORDMASTER
The missing piece in the SWORDMASTER range of rigid shells. These articulated shoulder pads made of polypropylene are constructed like those of a harness and cover the shoulder and upper arm over your HEMA jacket.
- A shoulder shell and three articulated plates, mounted on riveted inner straps
- Rigid and lightweight polypropylene, matte black finish
- Double fastening: elastic lace-up cord at the shoulder and adjustable arm strap
- When paired with the Rigid Shells - Elbow and Forearm, they cover the arm from shoulder to wrist
Description
An Architecture Inherited from the Harness
In the plate harnesses of the late Middle Ages and Renaissance, the shoulder is not covered by a single piece. The pauldron (or spallière) combines a domed shell that caps the joint with a series of blades that extend down the forearm. These blades are connected by riveted inner leathers: they slide over each other and follow the arm instead of restricting it. These SWORDMASTER pauldrons follow this exact principle.
Design and Materials
Each pauldron consists of a shoulder shell and three blades made of rigid polypropylene. Two riveted inner nylon straps assemble them, in the modern style of armor leathers. Polypropylene provides a lightweight and rigid shell that withstands sweat and humidity and retains its shape throughout training. The matte black finish complements the other rigid shells in the range.
Adjustment and Fastening
An elastic cord threaded at the top of the shell allows the pauldron to be laced onto the jacket, at shoulder level [to be confirmed: compatible jackets]. An adjustable elastic strap secures the last blade around the arm. These two anchor points keep the piece in place without pressing it down: the blades remain free to move among themselves when you lift or rotate your arm.
For What Practice?
The shoulder and upper arm are among the most frequently targeted areas in longsword combat. An Oberhau often finishes its path along the guard in this area. These pauldrons are aimed at practitioners who wish to add rigid coverage to this zone on their jacket, both in intense sparring and in tournaments. Along with the Rigid Shells - Elbow and Forearm, they cover the entire arm in two independent sets that you can adjust to fit your morphology precisely.
Good to Know
The inside of the shells is not padded. These pauldrons are worn over a HEMA jacket or a gambeson: they complement the coverage but do not replace the padding. The Tactical Spallières also cover the collarbones and throat thanks to their collar. These pauldrons, however, are limited to the shoulder and forearm, leaving the neck free for the gorget of your choice.

Important information and terms of use
The "350N" and "800N" ratings designate the fabric's puncture resistance measured in a laboratory. They do not constitute a guarantee against impacts and do not measure shock absorption, as the case may be.
The use of this equipment, particularly for the practice of HEMA, is under the sole responsibility of the user. It is recommended that the user adapt and complete their equipment according to the simulators used (steel, synthetic, wood), the intensity of their practice, and the regulatory requirements of their club or tournament.
