Federschwert “Regenyei” - Guard with Rings
Forged by the renowned Péter Regenyei, this weapon has ideal measurements and optimal balance. Two rings at the guard level protect the hands and improve the weapon's balance.
- "Strong" type blade: the only one suitable for competition and never breaks.
- Folded tip for increased safety during thrusts
- Designed based on historical sources
- 1-year warranty
Note: The rings on the guard offer much better hand protection; however, some competitions may disallow this type of guard for fairness among fighters.
Description
The Feder or Federschwert (feather sword) is a training and competition sword used since the 15th century in Europe. Its use gained momentum in the 16th century when the Longsword was gradually replaced by the rapier for duels, and it appears in numerous manuscripts by fencing masters such as Paulus Hector Mair and Joachim Meyer.
Many historical sources have allowed for the faithful reproduction of its shape and characteristics. Today, it is the weapon of choice for practitioners of Historical Martial Arts and offers incomparable sensations compared to wooden or plastic simulators because it is much closer to a real sword.

The semi-rigid blade is ideal for bind work and intense sparring with full protection. The tip is about 1cm², which helps distribute the impact over a larger area. It is still recommended to add a piece of leather or rubber to "blunt" the weapon. (Regenyei feders are also available in a "flexible" version, but they present a higher risk of breaking and are therefore not recommended for competitions.)
Equipped with a straight steel guard 5mm thick. Measuring 25 cm wide, it is securely fastened around the sword's grip.
Rings on either side provide additional hand protection, making it an ideally suited model for competition.
The handle is approximately 32cm long and is covered with very durable black cord.
The pommel, known as pear-shaped, is made of solid steel. Its shape allows for a good grip, and its weight helps improve the balance of the weapon.
